Blues Matters! Review of Ealing Blues Festival

Uncle Buck was next on and they must be the band to watch in the future; their music is an adventure in Americana....This band should be on the Main Stage next year if there is any justice.

What a Friday night that was from the wonderful Uncle Buck Band. A trip through American music. New Orleans to Chicago. Little Feat, James Brown, Memphis Horns meet up with classic blues artists (too many to mention) and have an absolute ball. They will be back for sure”

— Wokingham Music Club

What a truly inspiring band!   ”

— Pete Feenstra - Promoter Stormy Monday Club Bulls Head, Real Music Live, Boom Boom Club

It doesn't get much better than this.  Great songs, great playing, great band! ”

— Rex Everett - Basingstoke Blues Club

The lucky Tuesday Night Music Club family witnessed a demonstration of musicianship and performance second to none. The problem one experiences when seeing Uncle Buck is who to watch - you just don't want to miss a thing. Swiftly though you realise that the only thing you can do is let the music wash over you and try to stop yourself being the first one to dance! ”

— Richard Dunning, Promoter Tuesday Night Music Club, South London

This is a great, (let me repeat this) great band! ”

— Lamb Bristow singer from All Star Chicago Rhythm & Blues Revue

Uncle Buck is a stunning band, fantastic players and boy do they have fun....A must see!”

— Midnight Special Blues Club

A great night with Uncle Buck, we will be booking this band again!”

— Boarhunt Blues Club

Uncle Buck delivered two fantastic sets.......As it says on the tin, They Rock, They Roll. Plus, They Moved my Soul!”

Blues in Britain - Bullfrog Blues Dockyard Club gig - 2017

Despite all their vast experience and undoubted pedigree, the band, Nick Hyde, guitar & vocals, Russ Brown, bass guitar & vocals, Simon Callow, keyboards & vocals, Peter Miles, drums & percussion, and John Lancaster, keyboards & vocals, were completely new to me. At one end of the musical spectrum there are new young bands to excite, and predict great futures, whilst at the other comes the glorious opportunity to savour the finely honed talents of veterans still bewitched by and in love with their craft.

A Soulful marinade of Blues, Jazz and Funk tinged material drawn from some of the forgotten greats and with a deceptive amount of love and care as to the choice of songs. No mere exercise in nostalgia though as the band infuse the material with their own vibrancy and passion bringing the music alive as it should be heard. The sum being even greater than the considerable parts.
